Classification is one of the important preparation assignments in minerals processing, the stand or fall of classification assignments, will directly influence subsequent assignments indicators. There are many classification equipments in concentrating mill. Spiral classifier is only one of classification equipments. The structure of Spiral classifier is compact, it is very convenient for operation, and it also can form close circuit with grinding mills. It is widely used in concentrating mill. But spiral classifier occupies large area, its classification efficiency is very low. These defects restricted its application. In recent years, in a period of grinding-cl as si fi cation process assignments, it appeared that with cyclone replace spiral classifier form close circuit with grinding mills. Therefore, how to improve the classification efficiency of spiral classifier, and how to play its advantage become important research subject.This paper according to look up literature review, the author analysis spiral classifier classification theory, and establishes a dynamic differential equation about spiral classifier non-steady flow classification. According to the characteristics of traditional spiral classifier. The author puts forward the improving method and measures, then design and manufacture aΦ300mm×4300mm approximate hardo spiral classifier. The improved spiral classifier, its basic principle didn't change, only its overflow discharge and mixing way is adjusted. The change shorten the movement journey of granule in spiral classifier. Let granule transverse discharge timely through overflow hole, and control the rough running overflow. Spiral classifier is added a churn-dasher at the classification area. It reduce the fine particles of content in the classifier sand, and avoid the regurgitant slurries, reduce granule mineral concentration. Then it improve spiral classifier classification efficiency.The author conducted the system parameters test about two kinds of spiral classifier. These tests include pulp density of feed ores, gradient of spiral classifier, runoff of feed ores, altitude of overflow weir and altitude of overflow hole. Experimental data shows, prior to the improvement, spiral classifier efficiency is only 30%~50%. After reconstruction, spiral classifier efficiency is 50%~70%. Contrast found, the latter is far better than the former, classification efficiency improved 10%~17%. Explain dissertation research is successful.Due to limited conditions, this paper studies are made in the laboratory half industrial experiments. Spiral classifier cannot to form close circuit with grinding mills in industry, it must be check in the production. It still need consummate the parameters.
