In the construction of the coordination polymers, carboxylic acid ligand is a kind of very important organic ligand. Relative to fatty acid ligand, aromatic acid ligand is more rigid, forms hole compounds with metal cations easily, has the very good stability, and it has important research significance and broad application prospects. In this paper, (4-carboxymethoxy-phenyl)-acetic acid(H2cpa) is a kind of flexible ligand which function as a bridge to connect two centers in construction the coordinat- ion polymers. We got eleven coordination polymers using H2cpa and transition metal cations Cd(Ⅱ),Cu(Ⅱ) and Zn(Ⅱ) : {[Cd(cpa)(2,2'-bipy)(H2O)]·2H2O}n (1) ,{[Cd(cpa)(phen)]·3H2O}n (2),[Cd(cpa)]n (3),{[Cu(cpa)(2,2'-bipy)(H2O)]·2H2O}n (4),[Cu(cpa)(phen)(H2O)]2·6H2O (5) , Cu(Hcpa)2(H2O)2 (6) , Cu(Hcpa)2(H2O)3 (7) ,[Zn(cpa)(2,2'-bipy)(H2O)]2 (8) , [Zn(cpa)(phen)(H2O)]2 (9) ,{[Zn(cpa)(bte)(H2O)2]·2H2O}n (10),{[Zn(cpa)(bpe)]·2H2O}n (11).The eleven compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra, luminescence analyses, thermogravimetric analyses and single crystal X-ray. We tested the luminescence spectroscopy of (1)-(3), (8)-(11) and studied the thermogravimetric property of the complex (1)-(7) and (10).In complexes (1) and (2), ligand H2cpa and the metal cations formed one- dimensional chain structure through the bridge; (4)-(9) contained intramolecular or intermolecular hydrogen bonds, which connected into three- dimensional network or one-dimensional chain structure, (3) formed three-dimensional network structure, (10) and (11) formed two-dimensional grid structure, and the ligand H2cpa appeared in disorder.
