Study On The Design Of Wicker Household Products As Style Carrier

Wicker is an old traditional products with a unique flavor,which is built up of themultifarious formation with an inimitable style spontaneously in the wake of times andregionalism that influenced it ambiguously. The amount of Bibliography study on the chinesewickers' theoretical directions and the methods of designing isn't in proportion to itsaccumulation of years. This paper includes a detail and systematic description on the design ofwicker household products in all necessary aspects. The followings are extracted from the wholethesis explain as a epitomization.1．Analysis on wicker household products' history, current status and prospect.2．Study the essential feature of wicker household products. First divided the essentialfesture into three parts-----framework, form of block surface and local decoration, then analyzedand summarized the reasons for forming of those different components' outward appearance.3．In combination with characteristic and detailed history of typical styles such as Chinese,Japanese, Victoria, Arts&Crafts, Art Deco and Contemporary style of wicker household products,then summarized the methods of generality concrete expression way of different styles' visualsymbol and the trends of its' design.4．Inherited and expanded the above content and conclusions, designed seven weavepatterns of block surfaces, one table and three chairs which depends on Chinese auspiciouspatterns and Ming Furniture to provide an exploratory experience on the design of wickerhousehold products as style carrier, then presented forward views on the feasibility, methods andperformance effect which based on the design practice.
