Reverse engineering and rapid prototyping technology are the important technical support in rapid product development and design. This topic takes the development of lampshade products as an example, and expounds application of the reverse engineering and rapid prototyping technology in product development.This paper studies the commonly used 3D point cloud data collection methods, the advantages and disadvantages of them were compared. Based on this, the article expounds the principle of the measurement and data collection way of non-contact measurement equipment. And the point cloud data post-processing technology is research, especially research the cloud data to deal with the noise, the point cloud data filtering technology and the point cloud repair and illegal technology principle and method. The lampshade product model is constructed based on the use of imageware software. The NURBS curve and surface construction method and NURBS surface modeling some problems needing attention are discussed. The joining together of modeling in product design directly influence subsequent product precision molding. And the lampshade product surface function analysis and detection is finished using the software provides a surface analysis function, the product defects is timely discovery and modify product design, so as to ensure products manufacturability and product quality.This article analyzes the rapid prototyping manufacturing methods, and the lampshade products sample is made by using the rapid prototyping manufacturing equipment. At the same time, the position and von layer thickness setting molding parameters on the forming time and forming precision is studied, in order to provide the basis for the improve the work efficiency and product molding precision. Experiments show the product shape precision and product put way should choose to make the Z axis direction minimum height at the same time should choose reasonable layer thickness parameters in order to make the processing samples to minimize the error, improve the forming precision, and to realize the rap id prototyping has certain precision and mild and meet a certain function prototype and parts. Finally the manufacturing enterprise actual production shows that this method can shorten new products manufacturing and development cycle, especially improve the surface quality and physical properties, and also provide the platform for the mould processing and function experiment.
