| High density polyethylene (HDPE) is a kind of polymers with excellent performance and widely application, however more and more demands require HDPE having higher performance. Crosslink can improve the performance of HDPE, and HDPE is one of polymers which produce crosslink under electron beam.The radiation crosslinking under high-energy electron beam of high density polyethylene with the sensitizer and the antioxidant 4,4-Thiobis(6-tert-butyl-m-cresol) was investigated in this paper. Pentaerythritol triacrylate (PETA) and Triallyl isocyanurate (TAIC) were used as the sensitizer alone or jointly. The influence of radiation dose and the amount of sensitizer on property of crosslinked HDPE was determined though testing the crosslinking degree, tensile strength and tangential breaking strength of samples. The crystal property and heat stability of crosslinked HDPE were analyzed by the DSC and TG.The result indicated that electron beam and the sensitizer is useful for increasing the crosslinking degree of HDPE. PETA and TAIC can promote the radiation crosslinking of HDPE, and the crosslinking degree of HDPE under the sensitizer reaches to high enough for use with less absorbed dose. The reactivity of TAIC is higher than PETA under radiation and more suitable for HDPE. |
