Polybrominated diphenyl ethers(PBDEs) are one kind of good brominnted flamt retardants(BFRs), It is added to a variety of household and industrial products in order to effectively reduce the incidence of fire as an additive flame retardant. In recent years, the impact of polybrominated diphenyl ethers on the environment and human are concerned, especially with the promulgation of the EU RoHs Directive, in order to deal with technical barriers to trade, polybrominated diphenyl ethers related components become a very important test of the test items. The optimum pretreatment conditions were obtained by optimizing ultrasonic extraction and microwave extraction separately. It was found that when it was considered from the combined effect, the effect of microwave extraction was ideal, it was completed in the shortest possible time for maximum extraction efficiency. For acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plastic, average recoveries for twelve PBDEs obtained by this pretreatment ranged from 89.12% to 102.36%, and the relative standard deviation (RSD) for the recovery ranged from 1.52% to 1.59%. Average recoveries for twelve PBDEs obtained by this pretreatment ranged from 88.54% to 103.28%, and the relative standard deviation (RSD) for the recovery ranged from 1.97% to 2.65% in polystyrene (PS) plastic. They meet the requirements of trace analysis. The conditions of HPLC were developed for simultaneous determination of twelve PBDEs in ABS/PS samples. Under these conditions, twelve PBDEs could be well separated. Polybrominated diphenyl ethers shows a good linear relationship (r>0.9999) in the range of 5~500mg/L (total concentration). The limits of detection (3S/N) for the methods of twelve PBDEs reached at 0.07-0.2 mg·L-1, the limits of quantitation (10S/N) reached at 0.23-0.67 mg·L-1.The established pretreatment and analysis method were applied successfully to four plastic samples on sale for the determination of twelve PBDEs. The results showed that the method was suitable for the analysis of PBDEs in plastic.
