The computing of dimension chain plays an very important role in the research of procedure sizes and tolerance.In the design and production many complex machinery all need a lot of dimension chain computing, so as to the assembly parts can be inspected, and guarantee the precision requirements of system. To such problems, according to the traditional methods, if tolerance is found unreasonable, the technologist will redistribute tolerances according to their personnel experience.Accordingly, according to product's requirements, using superior calculation method of dimension chain to assign parts dimension tolerance, can make products get the best technical level and economic benefits.Based on the existing technology, aiming at the related knowledge of processing dimension chian and technology of the related approaches for solving process, dimensional chain and tolerance-some methods of cost optimization. Starting from the machining process, tells relevant knowledge about mechanical processing process. Then the basic knowledge of dimension chain is introduced, and graph theory method, tracking chart method etc are put forward based on solving method of dimension chain. And then explains the principle of the relationship between tolerance-cost based on the tolerance analysis and tolerance comprehensive knowledge. Finally puts forward the research method based on matrix, procedure sizes and tolerance, using matrix rule to solve dimensional chain, and to implement internal calculation by excel. Compared with traditional methods, data processing is more accurate and more complete, repair information more convenient, the distribution of processes and tolerance is more reasonable. In addition, also it is put forward that the optimization design about tolerance-cost based on taguchi method, to optimize tolerance and cost problems by orthogonal design method. The best solution can be chosen from many test plan, and have high efficiency.
