With the constant development of the textile industry, more and more electronic technique is applied in textile machine. The weft feeder is used as a key textile equipment, which has also been a rapid development, the development of feeder is inexistent to subsistent, from low speed to high speed and simple to multi-functional, a variety of electronic control technology are also applied in weft feeder's control. In particular, the development of the modern new-style high-speed loom, which needs the superior performance weft feeder. Air-jet loom weft feeder is a high-speed, advanced and electronic measuring weft storage for the air-jet loom. Air-jet loom weft feeder will ensure the efficiency of the air-jet loom, it will also improve the quality of air-jet loom's weaving. Therefore, providing a good performance control system for the air jet loom is an important task.The Air-jet loom weft feeder was choosed as the object of study, in order to meet the function requirements of the current high-speed air jet loom, using the new embedded digital signal controller dsPIC to design the control system for air-jet loom weft feeder. The idea of modularized design was used in the air-jet loom weft control system. The controller dsPIC is the key of the whole control system, which composed by the weft feeder motor control subsystem, weft storage control subsystem, weft tension control subsystem WBS and communication subsystem. The controller dsPIC is at a low cost, pure control functions for the weft feeder control system, and a high-speed signal processing capability, which is the basic condition to ensure the steady high-speed control system.Weft tension control is the key work in the study, for the subject it mainly reflects in the two aspects-weft feeder motor speed control system and weft tension device control. For the designing of weft feeder motor control system, theΔspeed tracking algorithm is given, the speed of weft yarn is tracked by the speed of weft feeder motor. Changing the weft feeder motor's high-frequency intermittent movement into a similar continuity movement, which prevents a dramatic change in the yarn tension effectively. On the research of weft tension control, aiming a typical tension control device to design the tension control system. In order to reduce the sudden peak tension which caused broken yarn and bad result, a series of "braking" action is designed to avoid the plump tension changing.After a test running on the machine, showing that the control system is stable and reliable, and at a low failure rate, meeting the design requirements.
