Flying Shear is one of the important equipments in Metallurgy profession, which is used for cutting the moving rolled stock. It is usually provided in the continuous mill of armor plant, to crop the head and tail end and cut the strip in fixture size. It is also used for cobble cutting in accident. At present, Centrifugal Flying Shear is widely used in the Iron and steel enterprise, because of simple organization, reliable performance and high cutting precision. Whether does the flying shear start fast, rapidly response, cut-to-length, simulation is needed.This article unifies zinc electroplating unit of Cold-rolling mill of Baoshan Iron and Steel Corporation, analyzes the startup characteristics of flying shear, cutting cycle, cut-to-length control and speed drive system. The main research content is as follows:(1) Research on structural characteristics, technical requirements and working principle of Flying Shear, and establish the mathematical model.(2) Complete Flying Shear simulation on kinematics and dynamics with SIMULINK and SimMechanics. Analyzed start features and shearing time of Flying Shear. Propose the control strategy of the Cut-to-Length.(3)Optimize driving system of flying shear. Design Valve-controlled hydraulic motor drive system, and establish the mathematical model and simulation on it.(4) Optimized Valve-controlled hydraulic motor drive system based on the Bang-Bang+ PID controlled dual-mode control.The results show that the flying shear structure parameters satisfied the real requirements. Furthermore, the modeling methods and simulation results will make contribution for deep further analysis of shearing process, parameters optimization and the design of similar flying shear; The Bang-Bang+PID controlled dual-mode control can effectively improve the dynamic performance of hydraulic system.
