As crude oil resources tend to be heavy qualitative and inferior, the FCC has become main reprocessing technology of crude oil. The by-product slurry of FCC, which is rich in polycyclic aromatic, is a valuable chemical raw material and heavy fuel, but the catalyst particles in the slurry limits its application. It is of great significance to investigate the process of taking off the solid from FCC slurry.Thermo-chemical deposition method has been used to remove the catalyst particles of FCC slurry. Based upon the selection of existing sedimentation agent, we found that the series of FAQ flocculating sedimentation agent synthesized by phenol, aldehydes and amine has shown some effect in removal of FCC. Through optimized the synthesis conditions, the removal effects of FAQ-23 and FAQ-90 are good. The ash removal efficiency of slurry could reach 94% when settling for 48h with 500μg/g FAQ at 90℃. Under that condition, the content of ash and Al+Si fell to 0.017% and 75-77mg/kg, respectively. The industrial scale of the synthesis of the flocculating sedimentation agent FAQ-23 has been carried out and the yield of the product reached 91%. Under the same conditions, the removal effect of FAQ-23 is better than LY flocculant, which is applied as the industrial flocculant. GPC, elemental analysis, IR, NMR, and TGA has been used to discusses the relationship between the molecular structure and performance of FAQ-23 and FAQ-90. And through the determination of interfacial tension, contact Angle and the Turbiscan Lab analysis, this paper explore the settlement mechanism of FAQ flocculating sedimentation. The result shows that adding the FAQ flocculating sedimentation to model oil can increase contact angle between model oil and the catalyst, and reduce the wettability of the catalyst particles. This indicates that the flocculation action can increase the particle size which results in accelerating the process of the settlement.
