Along with the development of automobile, communication, IT and daily hardware manufacturing industry, sheet metal parts become increasingly popular. As an important step of the process design of sheet metal parts, sheet metal unfolding becomes more and more important. In the traditional sheet metal production methods, sheet metal unfolding method has also gone through several stages. In the sheet metal unfolding primary stage, mapping method is put forward. It is a pure handmade geometrical drawing method with low production efficiency and qualified rate of products, occupying much time of the designers. The second stage of sheet metal unfolding puts forward the calculation method and the coefficient method, The two methods have significantly improved in accuracy and speed of sheet metal unfolding, but its have no improvement in the drawing and data storage. The third stage of sheet metal unfolding is procedure method, so that the computer instead of the automatic completion of simple and complicated calculations. But it is really that the computer aided drawing and computer aided design method that is put forward in this stage let the designers go out from the manual drawing. The two methods improve the deployable precision.In order to get the accurate data, this paper presents a computer aided technology and sheet metal processing technology to link sheet metal automatic expansion software. Based on the consideration of processing technology, it put forward the problem of the thickness processing and the form of groove. The thickness processing can reduce the error caused by the plate thickness, the problem of the groove can solve the interface problems and reduce interface task, twisted and notch. In this paper, plate thickness processing is divided into flat panels, curved panels and mixing board of plate thickness processing, the interface processing method use interface location thickness processing method, realize the sheet metal automatic expansion and minimize processing technology on size effect. In the development of the software system, the UG as software platform use VC++6.0 as a development tool. Focuses on the VC++6.0 on the secondary development of key technologies UG. Software realize the visualization and design the interactive interface of the sheet metal, it can input parameters and expand to provide an efficient, accurate and practical tool for the parameterization of the sheet metal.
