With the development of society, the environmental problems are becoming more serious and be paid attention by people, and the theory of ecological security is put forward. Ecological security including environmental safety, biological safety and the safety of ecosystem. City is the result of the development of human social, economic, political and cultural. City ecological security including city natural system security and city social and economic system security. In the process of city development, city ecological security will be related to human well-being, city ecological security is an important part in the field of ecological safety.Wuhan is the largest city and the only vice provincial city in Central China, and also is the important industrial, scientific and educational base and the comprehensive transportation hub. Wuhan is the core city of the Wuhan City Circle, which was identified as "resources-consuming and environment-friendly society" experimental zone in December,2007. The development of Wuhan can drive the development of other city of the province and neighboring provinces. In order to ensure the sustainable development of the city, we must pay more attention to ecological security problems in the process of city development. This paper researches Wuhan ecological security based on the theory of ecological security, and it can be divided into four parts:The first part introduces the process of ecological security research, the structure and function of city eco-system, and the concept and related issues of city ecological security. The second part constructs the index system of ecological security according to press-state-response model and the characteristics of Wuhan ecosystem, calculates the ecological security index of Wuhan from2003to2010by comprehensive index method, and then evaluates the level of Wuhan ecological security base on the calculation results. The third part predicts the development trend of Wuhan ecological stress and Wuhan ecological security by regression analysis method. The last part makes recommendations after analysed the promble of Wuhan ecological security.
