Starch polyglycosides, kinds of APG, is a new and green of nonionic surfactant, which is synthesized by condensation with raw materials of starch and higher alcohols, acid as catalyst. It has the high surface activity, good and stable foam, strong clean ability, good matching, good antibacterial activity, no pollution, nontoxic, complete biodegradability etc, is a kind of environmental friendly surfactant. Starch polyglycos-ides surfactant is applied in daily chemical field, food industry, medicine field, oil industry and so on.In this paper, based on the synthesis methods of APG, the starch polyglycosides was synthesized by the glycoside exchange with potato starch, ethylene glycol and Cg8-10,C12,C12-14alcohol, removed alcohol by reduced pressure distillation and decoloed. This experiment optimized synthetic technology, removal alcohol conditions and decoloring method of C0810,C1200and C1214starch polyglycosides. The physicochemical properties and applied properties of products, were analyzed, were up to GT/B19464standards.This paper was the first time to study moisture-absorption and moisture-retention capacity of starch glycoside surfactant. The moisture-absorption capacity and moisture-retention capacity were determined by the Weight Method, which was compared with capacity of glycerine, sorbitol, polyethylene glycol, xylitol, and alkyl polyglycosides. The experiment indicated that, at RH43%and RH81%, the moisture-retention capacity of the starch glycoside surfactant surpasses other samples (30℃), and its moisture-retention rate reach above70%after72h. The moisture-absorption rate of the starch glycoside surfactant is just inferior to the glycerine, reaching50%after72h. In this paper, we also study the factors of influencing on moisture-absorption and moisture-retention capacity of starch glycoside surfactant, preparing for advanced mechanism research. This paper was the first time to study acute toxicity of the C0810,C1200and C1214starch polyglycosides in order to develop the application of starch-based alkyl polyglycosides. The acute dermal toxicity test of mice, acute eyes and skin stimulation tests on rabbits, multiple eyes and skin irritation and skin allergy tests on rabbits were conducted according to the standard GB7919-78. The results showed that the C0810,C1200,C1214starch-based alkyl polyglycosides surfactant had no acute dermal toxicity and eye stimulation. They didn't cause irritation or allergy to skin. The allergic reaction rate is0. Thus they are more secure and reliable in practice.
