The extra heavy oil resource is very abundant in china, which is an important part tosolve the domestic energy crisis. The cyclic steam stimulation process is commonly applied asthe initial recovery technology, the Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage(SAGD) is considered tobe one of the most potential follow-up processes;So the studies focused on the mechanismsof SAGD for the development of super heavy oil reservoirs is of important significance toefficiently recovery of the super heavy oil.Supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (51176023), the paperstudies on SAGD mechanism, discusses in brief heat transfer process of steam in reservoirporous media. According to the basic principles and scaling theory for heavy oil reservoirsusing steam injection, an interactive scaling theory was developed to include the steamflooding and SAGD processes. On the basis of the physical mechanism simulation, themathematical model of SAGD is built with the vertical wells placed at an offset upperdistance to the horizontal, analyzed the growth of the steam chamber. And study the recoveryunder different location of wells, geological parameters (thickness, porosity, permeability, etc)to affect SAGD progress. According to the physical and numerical modeling studies.Whetherthe elevated temperature field is formed(downhole temperature80℃),whether the formationpressure is reduced to3~4.5MPa and whether the communication is formed between thehorizontal wells and the surrounding vertical wells are three major factors to determine if thepilot call be switched to SAGD operations. Injection/production parameters and the exploiteffects were Optimized and anticipated, and energy efficiency of SAGD was analyzed anddiscussed.The best scheme was chose of SAGD on the above studies, and discussed energyefficiency of SAGD. That is important guides to SAGD for the reservoir.
