The study of the antibiotic finishing fabrics is hotspot study of textile field, with the development of standard of living and consciousness of environmental production, people are more and more concerned about the medical care functionalities made of natural material. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct antibiotic finishing to cotton fabrics[1]. There are three antibiotic materials:natural,organic,and inorganic ones, the natural material with the good decomposability and friendly to the enviroment, they have the specialty of green,safety and higheffect. So, in this article,rhubarb root were applied to the antibiotic finishing of cotton fabrics and discussed the method and condition of finishing. After finished by the optimal process,some tests of antibiotic performance and dress capability were carried out, the results were discussed and compared.The main researches of this article are as follows. Make use of ethanol as solvent to extract the rhubarb root. The efficiency component of antibiotic is the anthraquinone compounds; The conditions of antibiotic finishing were discussed through the single factor experiment by taking the antibiotic rate, making choice of suitable range of antibiotic finishing factors,the optimal conditions of antibiotic finishing obtained through the orthogonal experiment. After finished by the optimal process,comparing the results of antibiotic performance and dress capability. The experimental result indicated that:First,the optimal extraction conditions of anthraquinone compounds of antibiotic efficiency component were:The powder of rhubarb root were diped in ethanol of 60% concentration,24 hours, filtrate. Put the hydrochloric acid into filtrate,volume ratio 1:20,obtained the dilutedness in 30 mins.Extraction by aether of 2 times volume and 5% concentration sodium hydroxide.Adjust PH value to 2-3,the yellow precipitation has been separated out, diluted to neutral, filtrate, dryness.Secondly, the antibiotic finishing conditions:put proper extraction,CA, activator,0.1%filter and pliability in the sodium hydroxide liquor, pulsator on the stirrer, 50℃,30mins, make them to blend sufficiency.Using the padding method, put the cotton fabrics in the finishing liguid, pading one time, pre dry at 80℃5 mins, curing at high temperature few mins,scour off the substance of not reaction, then drying at 80℃microtherm.Thirdly, the discusstion of antibiotic finishing conditions, the parameters'range of antibiotic finishing factors were obtianed by the single factor experiment, rhubarb root extraction 0.2%-0.4%, sodium hydroxide 8%,10%,12%, citric acid 5%-7%, sodium hypophosphorous acid 5%-7%, baking temperature 160℃,170℃,180℃, baking time 2-3 mins. After the orthogonal experiment, the optimal conditions of antibiotic finishing should be extraction 0.3%, sodium hydroxide 10%, citric acid 5%, sodium hypophosphorous acid 6%, baking temperature 160℃,baking time 3mins.Fourthly, the comparing results of antibiotic performance and dress capability finished by the optimal process, the experimental result indicated that:antibiotic rate was 96.3% for golden yellow staphylococcus,93.8% for backwoods coli, represented the preferably antibiotic guality. And compared the dress capabilities with normal cotton fabrics, the experimental results indicated that:the breaking strength and abrasion resistance exhibited slight decrease, but whiteness exhibited greatly decrease,and reversion of wrinkle slight increase, indicated the reversion capability has increased.Finally, even after washed for 10 times, finished fabrics till had high antibacterial rate,to golden yellow staphylococcus and backwoods coli still above 80%; but after washed for 20 times, antibacterial rate low 50%, showing that finished fabric had high fastness to washing.
