Biomass gasification is the process of converting solid biomass to combustible gas through heat reaction. Biomass gasification technology has been attracting more and more attentions because that investment moderate, technical operability and gas composition can vary with many factors. It has become an important component of biomass energy development and utilization.Due to complexity of biomass gasification, some key problems are still not solved. Such as the tar content in gasification gas is high and hard to purify, and the gas heating value is low, etc. These problems directly affect the popularization and application of biomass gasification technology. In this paper, gasification mechanism, gasification equipment and gasification process are illustrated according to the domestic and foreign research status of biomass gasification, based on this, analyzing the effect of gasification temperature, equivalence ratio and catalyst addition on the performance index of gasification process (such as gas heating value, gas yield, gas efficiency, etc.) and the tar content. Combined with gasification experimental data under different conditions, the gasification process model is established. On the basis of this model, the multi-objective optimization functions which is during control parameters (gasification temperature and equivalence ratio) and gas heating value and tar content is established, then it is used multi-objective genetic algorithm to optimize the objective functions, obtaining the optimum operation condition with high gas heating value and low tar content.
