In recent years,with the reforming of the electric power market,it is becoming more and more important to how to make the power system executes economy opertation, with the adjustment of the industry structure and the difference between the peak and the vale in the power-using load has become greater,the research on the optimal unit commitment of thermal power plants to minimize the ruel consumption become more practical significance,and the key of improving of the enterprise benefit is the efficiency of the unit operation.So it has very important significance to research and optimize the unit operation for improving the economic benefit of coal-fired power enterprises.The unit commitment(UC)optimization is typical nonlinear optimization problems which rely on many factors, such as nonlinear problem, discrimination, stochastic effect, uncertainty and so on. When dealing with this kind of problem, the traditional mathematical methods have its own limitations. But the optimization method by simulated evolution is uniquely suited to solve these high nonlinearity problems, discrimination problems and uncertainty problems. In this paper,Ant Colony Optimization presented recently was applied to Unit Commitment(UC)optimization. Researches on Ant Colony Optimization and its applications in Generator Unit Optimal Commitment are presented.This paper first introduced the relevant background of the topic and the situation of the research at home and abroad,and then from the boiler efficiency,steam turbine thermal dfficiency,pipeline efficiency and auxiliary power ratio of the four aspects to analysis the factors which influenced the coal consumptiom of the thermal power uints in detail.Using fitting method to combining the fuzzy C-means(FCM) clustering algorithm and least squares support vector machine(LSSVM) to coal consumption curves,analyzing the influence of the optimization by the problems of the unit's start-stop.And setting the mathematical model of the unit which takes the coal consumption minimum for target function and the multiple constraints in considering.At last introducing the algorithm which are appeared in recent years on the ant colony algorithm to solve the unit combination problems of the unit,the example shows that the accuracy and superiority of the ant colony algorithm is good,and the algorithm has good application and research significance.
