Pneumatic conveying is a method of transporting the solid material using of the gas as a carrier force. Pneumatic conveying technology started the late of the 19th century. Technology and equipment have made great progress after a hundred years. Compared with conveyors, vehicles and other transportation methods of powder, pneumatic conveying has the advantages of seal, dust-proof and protection of the environment, etc. So it is widely used in various industries of national economic construction, including chemicals, light industry, medicine, food, mining, metallurgy, transport (such as the powder granules transport of docks and storage) and environmental engineering.Pneumatic conveying process is a complex process. It is closely related to the powder technology and fluid mechanics. General method of pneumatic conveying systems engineering design is the similarity theory and test experience combination. It mainly depends on the engineering design experience, with low design efficiency.In this paper, it has done the in-depth research on pneumatic conveying computer-aided design system. From the functional perspective the CAD system can be divided into four functional modules: High-pressure conveying part, Low-pressure conveying part, dust system part, data enquiry part. High-pressure conveying part is mainly involved in the design of rubber factory carbon black dense phase pneumatic conveying systems and coal-fired power plant fly ash pneumatic conveying systems. Low-pressure conveying part can design the negative pressure system and the positive pressure system. Dust system part can calculate the air consumption, pressure drop, diameter of duct, filter area, when input enter parameters of inlet cross-sectional area, inlet velocity, duct design speed, length and the filter velocity to the system. In data enquiry part, the books in Chinese & English, the Master & PhD thesis, the relevant standards and regulations, the properties of common materials, the relevant parameters and the conveying modes can be accessed. Various units can also be converted in this part. The final results of each part can be outputted and saved in the form of notebook for reference.In this paper, the theoretical foundation, design steps, method of operation are introduced. After selecting the appropriate method of pneumatic conveying, the software will be completed to calculate a variety of results, which meet the design and production requirements, according to the basic parameters of materials and systems. The results include gas velocity, pipe diameter, gas consumption, solids loading ratio, pressure loss and so on.This software is carried out using the Delphi object-oriented design to facilitate the improvement and expansion of the CAD system.
