The balance new wind equipments had provided enough fresh air ventilation in residential buildings. New wind equipment which operates uninterruptedly all day not only brought the noise but also causes the waste of energy. Xi'an had rich natural wind resources, so it had a certain economic value to meet the people's needs of fresh air ventilation volume by the natural ventilation induced by urban wind force. Natural ventilation by the self-balancing inlet about a residential building in Xi'an was researched with numerical simulation method.The plan layout of buildings like the orientation and spacing of a building, and the impact of building structures to urban wind environment, made a great difference of wind pressure coefficient on each building surface. Therefore, it was necessary to make a research for residential wind environment before analyzing the indoor airflow and ventilation.Firstly, this article analyzed the wind environment of the entire district was analyzed in summer and winter dominant wind. Then the residential wind environment under the summer and winter dominant wind had been evaluates. The results show that the roadway wind speed between the residential buildings under the effect not affect the people's normal life. And then, based on the study results of the residential environment, the article analyzed the leeway coefficient on both sides of each building under the effect of different direction wind, and further analysis with the household theory ventilation.Secondly, the indoor airflow organizations and actual ventilation had been research in every room of1#and5#Building room in the summer and winter dominant wind. The study results had show that in the effect of natural air pressure, most of the rooms' ventilation in1#are less than the specification value, but part of the room s'ventilation in5#are greater.Thirdly, to improve the ventilation of the room which can not meet the ventilation requirements, the paper first analyzes the different open-state inlets location, size, and the air inlet angle, and eventually studies the reasonable open-state inlets location, the open area, and the inlet air angle under the effect of the natural wind. And then using the reasonable open-state inlets location and the inlet air angle to check and calculate the air distribution and ventilation in different locations of the natural ventilation.Finally, the paper briefly proved the natural ventilation is feasibility as the contrast of natural and mechanical ventilation.
