Objective:This study is to observe the clinical effects and the rate of postherpetic neuralgia treatment protocols for patients with acute herpes zoster, who are under Professor Zhang's clinical treatment. Among the four protocols to treat acute herpes zoster patients in this clinical study, we found the best one which has the most significant curative effect . And thereby we can offer some insight into better treatment of postherpetic neuralgia patients in future.Method: The 120 patients of acute are put into four groups at random.Group I (27 patients) are treated with syndrome differentiation and treatment ; II (30 patients) western medicines; III(34 patients) syndrome differentiation and treatment with western medicines; and IV(29patients) syndrome differentiation and treatment with western medicines combined with acupuncture. The course of treatment is 10 days. Observe the improvement in symptoms and drug safety of the 4 groups before and after treatment.Results:Group IV has the highest effective rate in blistertime,scar treatment ,recovery pain among all four groups.Conclusion:Among the four treatment protocols, syndrome differentiation and treatment with western medicines combined with acupuncture is the optimum with the most significant curative effect.
