Objective:Through clinical observation of Acupuncture combined with traditional Chinese medicine, and the detection of biochemical parameters in acute gouty arthritis patients, to investigate the curative effects of the combined therapy, and to provide comprehensive clinical basis for further development of the therapeutic effects of Acupuncture combined with traditional Chinese medicine.Methods:60 patients met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into treatment group and comparison group,30 cases in each. Treatment group:acupuncture master points are the Yinlingquan, Sanyinjiao, Zusanli, Quchi, for bilateral; Ashi points (affected side), combined with symptomatolofec points. Once a day,5 times for a course of treatment, then rest for 2 days, and continue to the next course of treatment. They were treated for 2 courses in all. Gout medicine granules (Tufuling, silkworm excrement, Clematis, Bixie, Chonglou, Xu Changqing, Plantago etc.).3 times a day,1 package (10g) for once, serving a total of 2 weeks. Comparison group:oral Benzbromarone tablet, Once a day, one tablet for once (50mg), serving a total of 2 weeks. Before and after treatment, to assess joint pain, swelling degree, joint activity and walking function with points, and to detect changes of serum uric acid levels. Assessment referred to the Ministry of Health, "Guidelines for Clinical Research of traditional Chinese medicine treatment for gout ", and data processed with statistical software of SPSS16.0.Result:(1) The two methods could significantly improve patients' symptoms of joint pain, swelling degree, joint range of motion and walking functional evaluation points. The significant difference of the points was found between pretreatment and posttreatment(P<0.01). Treatment group is better than comparison group (P<0.05).(2) After treatment, the patients' levels of serum uric acid are significantly reduced. There was no significant difference of reduction rate between the two groups (P> 0.05).(3) After treatment, the total effective rate of treatment group was 96.7% and 73.3% in the comparison group. Treatment group is better than comparison group (P<0.05).Conclusion:Acupuncture combined with traditional chinese medicine is an effectual method to treat patients of acute gouty arthritis. It can significantly improve Patients' symptoms of joint pain, swelling, as well as other symptoms and signs of dysfunction, It also can reduce serum uric acid. In the overall therapeutic effectiveness, acupuncture combined with TCM therapy is superior to single Benzbromarone treatment.
