| Objective: To explore the relationship between numbers of peripheral blood endothelialprogenitor cells (EPC) and heart failure in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD).Methods: CAD was diagnosised by coronary arteriongraphy or coronary CT angiography.Patients were classified into 3 groups according to ACC/AHA directory, 30 cases each. Ascontrol group, whose coronary angiography was normal; and CAD patients in stage B and Dwere elected as study groups. The trending about the numbers of peripheral blood EPC in CADheart failure patients was searched by measuring the numbers of peripheral bloodCD133~+/CD34~+ cells with Flow cytometer. The N-terminal-pro-B-type natriuretic peptide(BNP),left ventricular ejection fraction(EF), C-reactive protein(CRP), blood pressure, lipids, fastingblood glucose, uric acid, serum creatinine, brachial ankle pulse wave velocity(ba-PWV),Ankle-brachial index(ABI) were measured respectively. The correlation was analyzed among thenumbers of peripheral blood EPC, BNP,EF, CRP, blood pressure, lipids, fasting blood glucose, uric acid, serum creatinine, baPWV,ABI.Results: 1. The numbers of peripheral blood EPC in group stage D, group stage B, control groupwere (0.101±0.032)×106, (0.498±0.259)×106,(0.301±0.094)×106. The plasma levels ofBNP were(13440.590±13572.77)pg/ml, (436.610±427.590)pg/ml, (110.960±113.610)pg/ml; Thelevel of EF were(45.100±10.850)%,(59.610±6.410)%,(62.790±4.660)%;the level of CRPwere(26.610±51.740)mg/l,(7.19±14.05)mg/l,(3.480±2.330)mg/l. Camparing with groupstage B, group stage D and control group, The numbers of peripheral blood EPC in group stageB were the highest (P<0.05), and group stage D were the lowest (P<0.05), the level of BNP weresignificantly highest in group stage D (P<0.01), and the level of EF were significantly lowest ingroup stage D (P<0.01), the level of CRP in group stage D were higher than control group(P<0.05), but the difference between the level of CRP in group stage D and group stage B was nostatistical significance. 2. Spearman correlation analysis showed that sex, blood pressure, lipids, fasting blood glucose, uric acid, serum creatinine, baPWV, ABI.were not associated with Thenumbers of peripheral blood EPC; The numbers of peripheral blood EPC was negativly correlated with CRP(r =- 0.631, P <0.05), BNP(r=-0.648,P<0.05), Age (r =- 0.226, P <0.05),and positivly correlated with EF(r=0.43, P<0.05).Conclusions: In CAD patients, numbers of peripheral blood EPC were positively correlated tothe cardiac function, the worse the cardiac profile, the lower the number of EPC. To regulate therelease of EPC could be a new treatment for heart failure caused by CAD. |
