Objective: The aim of the study is to investigate the relationship between coronary heart disease(CHD) and interkeukin-18 (IL-18) and asymmetrical dimethyl arginine (ADMA) by detecting the blood serum level of the two factors, and to explore the influence of guanxindanshen dripping pills to the two factors. And then, to realize the significance of the two factors in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of CHD.Methods: 85 patients were selected in this study, they were divided into four groups according to the results of the coronary arteriography(CAG). 20 healthy subjects as control group, the average age of the patients was 53.80±6.93 years old (40-65years);25 patients with stable angina pectoris (SAP), the average age of the patients was 58.12±8.14 years old (42-72years); 20 patients with unstable angina pectoris(UAP), the average age of the patients was 58.15±7.80 years old (45-71years); and 20 patients with acute myocardial infarction(AMI), the average age of the patients was 58.85±9.14 years old (44-75years). All the subjects' common data were recorded including name, sex, age, medical history, electrocardiogram systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), total cholesterol(TC), triglycerides(TG), high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C),low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C) and fasting plasma glucose(FPG). The level of interkeukin-18 (IL-18) and asymmetrical dimethyl arginine (ADMA) of all subjects were detected by ELISA.Results:①. The level of serum IL-18 was 47.74±8.95 pg/ml in normal control group, 89.86±15.49pg/mL in SAP group, 134.64±27.86 pg/ml in UAP group, 269.90±50.53 pg/ml in MI group. The level of serum ADMA was 1.13±0.36μmol/L in normal control group, 2.96±0.61μmol/L in SAP group, 4.06±0.60μmol/L in UAP group, 6.28±0.89μmol/L in MI group.②. The levels of IL-18 and ADMA in the CHD group was higher than that in the control group, with a significant difference(P<0.01); and the level of IL-18 and ADMA was increased with the exacerbation of the pathema, with a significant difference(P<0.01);③. Pearson correlation analysis show that the level of serum IL-18 was positively correlated with ADMA(r=0.534, P<0.01).④.Guanxindanshen dripping pills could reduce the serum level of interleukin-18 and ADMA.Conclusion:①.The level of serum IL-18 and ADMA in coronary heart diseases was higher than that in control group.②. The change of serum IL-18 and ADMA probably played an important role in the occurrence and the development of the coronary heart disease And they were closely correlated with the severity of the pathema;③.The level of serum IL-18 was positively correlated with ADMA in patients with coronary heart disease.④. Guanxindanshen dripping pills could reduce the serum level of interleukin-18 and ADMA.⑤. We may find a new way to prevent and treat coronary heart disease by reducing the serum level of interleukin-18 and ADMA.
