Objective: To compare the effect of gabapentin, oxycodone and acetamin with or without epidural block on the treatment of post-herpetic neuralgia, and evaluate the clinical outcomes.Methods:48 patients with post-herpetic neuralgia were divided randomly into two groups: group A and group B. Objects were treated with gabapentin, oxycodone and acetamin with (group A) and without epidural block (group B). Verbal analogue scale(VAS) and Wisconsin brief pain inventory were used for the evaluation. Complications and adverse effects of the two treatments were also observed. Results:After therapies for one month,it was observed that there were significant difference in verbal analogue scaleand Wisconsin brief pain inventory in the two groups (P<0.05). And the scales decreased significantly with time dependence (P<0.05). There was no obvious complications in both two groups, however, more advers effects were observed in group B.Conclusion: Both of these therapies have positive effects on the treatment of post-herpetic neuralgia, but the method of epidural block with gabapentin, oxycodone and acetamin is significantly more effective, especially in the eary phase of post-herpetic neuralgia.
