| Objective: To study the effet of Chinese medicine and massage therapy on nuchal muscles of cervical spondylosis patients.Materials and Methods:Retrospectively analyze the MRI images of 140 patients with cervical spondylosis, treated by Chinese medicine and massage and get a satisfactory curative effect. The experimental group is make up of 75 patients who receive MRI examination after Chinese medicine massage therapy, aged from 22 to 80 years, mean aged 54.3 years,47 male and 28 females. The control group include 65 patients who receive MRI examination before Chinese medicine massage therapy, aged from 25 to 78 years, mean aged 54.1 years,38 males and 27 females. Measure and record the width of the spinalis muscles and semispinalis muscles on C4/C5, C5/C6 disc levels by axial images. Results: Among the experimental group, the average width of Spinalis muscles and semispinalis muscles on the C4/C5 disc level by axial images were: left side 0.925±0.04mm,0.826±0.02mm; right side 0.956±0.07mm,0.972±0.01mm, And on the C5/C6 disc level, the average width of spinalis muscles and semispinalis muscles were:left side 0.983±0.01mm,0.982±0.02mm; right side 0.915mm±0.04mm,0.926±0.02mm; Among the control group, the average width of the spinalis muscles and semispinalis muscles on the C4/C5 disc level by axial images were: left side 0.824±0.05mm,0.801±0.01mm; right side 0.875±0.04 mm,0.890±0.06mm; On the C5/C6 disc level, the average width of the two muscles were: left side 0.964±0.02mm,0.941±0.04mm; right side 0.805±0.03 mm,0.875±0.04mm. By X2 test, whether patients with cervical Massage before treatment (control group) or after treatment (experimental group), there was no significant difference (P> 0.05)between left and right sides of the average width of the two muscles. There was statistically significant (P <0.05) between the experimental and control groups on the same side and the same muscle groups.Conclusion:1. The incidence of cervical disease was related with age factors, increasing by the age.2.There was no significant difference between the two sides of the width of the spinalis muscles and semispinalis muscles in cervical spondylosis patients, 3. There was significant difference between experimental group and control group, the muscles after Chinese massage treatment were wider than before treatment in both groups, indicating that Chinese medicine and massage therapy have a good healing effect on damaged muscles.4. As a noninvasive means of deep muscles, MRI could display neck injury intuitively and sensitively, providing evidence-based medical proof for early diagnosis and curative effect verdict in cervical spondylosis patients. |
