Clinical Effect Of Mirtazapine United Testosterone Supplement For Treating Mental Disorders Associated With Chronic Prostatitis

Objective CP (chronic prostatitis) is a widely chronic disease related with male, most of CP patients accompanied with serious psychological problems especially depression and anxiety often and the regular therapy with anti-depression had limited effect for mental symptom and had no influence to chronic prostatitis and difficult to gain satisfied treatment. The purpose of our study was to research the therapeutic strategy aim to these patients through observing the clinic effect of the united therapeutic project with anti-depression mirtazapine and testosterone supplement.Method 63 subjects suffering from depression of CP were divided into 3 different groups randomly, 1st group was treated with mirtazapine (1 type of new anti-depression drug) only and 2nd group with mirtazapine united testosterone supplement and the 3rd group with testosterone supplement; The therapeutic period of every patient last 24 weeks totally. The NIH-CPSI, HAMD and HAMA score were employed to appreciate the CP symptoms and spiritual- psychological status of all these 63 patients, the evaluation will be performed on starting and afer each 2 weeks's interval. T test, Variance analysis were used to analyze the collected data in SPSS 14.0.Results Contrast with pre-treatment, the HAMD and HAMA score of mirtazapine group reduced apparently from 4^th week and 8^th week till 12^th week respectively(P<0.01) and kept stably, but on end of treatment, the score back to the level equivalent to 8^th week, the NIH-CPSI score have no any apparent change on whole period(P>0.05). For testosterone supplement group, HAMD / HAMA score reduced apparently from 8^th week till 12^th week(P<0.01) and kept stably to end, NIH-CPSI score reduced continuously from 12^th week to endpoint(P<0.01). The united group's HAMD / HAMA and NIH-CPSI score reduced apparently from 4^th week and 8^th week respectively till treatment endpoint(P<0.01 or 0.05). Contrast with mirtazapine group, the testosterone supplement group and united group reduced more NIH-CPSI score in whole treatment period (P<0.01)and the united group is more significant than the testosterone supplement group(P<0.01). All groups's HAMD and HAMA score declined apparently on treatment period, the united group reduced more HAMD score than other 2 groups from 16^th week(P<0.01)and the testosterone supplement group got more significant reduction than mirtazapine group(P<0.01); From 8^th week and 12^th week respectively, the HAMA score's reduction of united group was more significant than the testosterone supplement group(P<0.01)and the mirtazapine group(P<0.01)and from 20^th week, the testosterone supplement group had more reduction than the mirtazapine group(P<0.01).Conclusion Mirtazapine single treatment can improve the depression symptoms of CP patients, but the effect will be weakened when other physical symptoms couldn't improved with therapy continued; The project of testosterone supplement single was beneficial to both of mental and other physical symptoms of CP patients, but with slow onset and with weaker effects on mental symptoms contrast with mirtazapine single treatment; The therapeutic project with mirtazapine united testosterone supplement can improved spiritual-psychological status and CP symptom of the patients suffering mental disorders associated with chronic prostatitis simultaneously more than other 2 treatment.
