Major depression, with high pathogenicity, disability and recurrence rate, is threatening human's health. According to World Health Organization(WHO) estimated, about 3% adults all over the world are suffering from depression, while 10.3% in USA,7% in Europe, and 5% in China. As WHO issued in the World Health Report of 2007, depression has become the fourth disease, and will be the second just after heart disease in 2020.Having a correct understanding of the main factors which led to depression are particularly important to prevent and treat major depression, because of its clinical symptoms diversification。This study adopts multicenter large sample research the influencing factors outside of biological factors between the healthy crowd and depressed patients, and make the factors of depression associated with TCM in order to provide the basis the further treatment of depression。Objective Observing the ratio of MD patients'age, sex, occupation, blood type, family history, social, psychological conditions and other factors, and study the relationship between the influencing factors and TCM.Method Collecting 512 cases,288 MD patients,224 health persons, of which the depression group is divided into five syndromes:liver Qi stagnation, spleen deficiency, liver phlegm type, heart and spleen deficiency type, kidneys do not AC type. Making the correlation analysis with the database, and set up the database with SPSS 17.0 software, carrying out statistics handles and making the statistical charts.Results The age and sex ratio were not statistically different between MD group and the healthy group. In the MD group, the amount of female MD patients are 2.7 times as male's; and noninteraction Of heart and kidney has the most patients in five TCM syndrome types.Conclusion 1 Research of major depression related factors:Occupation presenting positive correlation with major depression, and the occurrence of manual workers are 1.451 times as Intellectual workers; Level of education presenting negative correlation with major depression, and the occurrence of who are receiving low education are 1.613 times as those who are receiving higher education; Family history presenting positive correlation with major depression, and the occurrence of having family history are 11.770 times as those who have no family history; The pressure presenting positive correlation with major depression, and the occurrence of having pressure in life and work are 2.443 times as those who have no pressure; Relationships presenting negative correlation with major depression, and the occurrence of having poor interpersonal relationships are 1.792 times as those who have normal interpersonal relationships; Interests and hobbies presenting negative correlation with major depression, and the occurrence of lacking of interest are 3.413 times as who are interested in a wide range; Allergies presenting positive correlation with major depression, and the people who have allergies suffering from depression are only 2.630 times as the persons with no allergies.2 The relationship between related factors and TCM:There are more males in the liver Qi stagnation and heart and spleen deficiency type than females,and there are more females in the spleen deficiency,liver phlegm type and kidneys do not AC type than males; Mostly young patients with depression are the liver Qi stagnation while mostly elderly depressed patients are heart and spleen deficiency type and kidneys do not AC type; The Course of depression who are the liver Qi stagnation or liver phlegm type is mostly 2 years while The Course of depression who are heart and spleen deficiency type and kidneys do not AC type is 6 to 10 years; Major depression mostly occurred in the winter and. spring, including liver Qi stagnation occurred in the winter and spring, the liver depression and spleen occurred in the summer and fall, the liver phlegm occurred in the winter and spring, the heart and spleen deficiency occurred in the fall, the kidneys do not AC type occurred more in winter.
