| To promote the scientific development of national defence and the armed forces, the Military Commission and the general department pay great attention on the military psychological service, which mainly relies on professionals of the mental health. Consequently,"Opinions on Improving Psychological Services in the Armed Forces under the New Situation"considered the human resource development for military psychology was put forward. It emphasizes on the start of training for considerable amount of professional psychotherapists who are tailored to meet the future requirements and fulfil military psychological service excellently. Obviously, training tasks are the compelling obligations for military medicine universities. Within those tasks, the first and foremost work is to provide an appropriate training mode for undergraduates of psychology.To meet the increasing needs on military psychological service, this study constructed an integrated training mode for undergraduates of Military Medical Psychology by exploring the relative aspects including the aim of the course, curriculum, cultivating strategies, professional practice and so on. A mixed research method was used to carry out this study. The qualitative data were collected by using literature review and interviews with experts on psychology, education management and military logistics; while the quantitative data were gathered by a survey with part time practitioners for the armies and full time psychologists of large military hospitals. A comparative method was employed to analyse qualitative data and the quantitative data were tested by Chi-square used a SPSS computer package. This study is an initiative work on the training mode for undergraduates who study psychology at military medical universities of China. It has important implications on promoting the educational system of military medicine for psychologist professionals and advancing the quality of psychological service for Chinese armed forces. |
