Objective:Assess the OGTT test in non-diabetic non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) of patients with symptoms of diabetes before the diagnosis value. Explore the risk factors of the NAFLD patients with impaired glucose tolerance. Methods:Total 363 male patients were enrolled in this study. A standard OGTT was carried out on all patients who had fasted for 8 hours. And ALT,AST,total bilirubin, y-GT,ALP,total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL-C),high density lipoprotein,(HDL-C),triglyceride(TG),fasting blood glucose (FBG),fasting insulin (FINS) were checked out. On the base of fasting blood glucose and fasting insulin, We calculated the homeostasis model for insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR). On the base of height, weight, blood pressure, hip and waist circumference, we calculated the body mass index (BMI)and waist to hip ratio. Results:According to the OGTT results,117(32.2%) patients were have normal glucose.89(24.5%) patients were diagnosed as having IFG and 94(25.9%) patients were diagnosed as having IGT.63(17.4%) patients were diagnosed as having diabetes. The NAFLD patients with abnormal glucose tolerance showed significant differences in age, weight, body mass index,waist-hip ratio,AST,ALT,total bilirubin, total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglyceride, insulin,FPG and homeostasis model for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) (P<0.05). Multiple regression analysis showed that age, FPG and HOMA-IR were independent predictors of abnormal glucose tolerance(P< 0.05).Conclusion:1. Through the OGTT we have higher chance to found the glucose tolerance test or diabetes. And, we can get the same result in the youth population. The OGTT will be favourable to predict the type 2 diabetes.2. The NAFLD with impaired glucose tolerance have relationship with the age, weight, body mass index,waist-hip ratio,AST,ALT,total bilirubin, total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglyceride, insulin,FPG and HOMA-IR.3. Age,fasting glucose,HOMA-IR are the independent risk factors of the NAFLD patients with impaired glucose tolerance.
