| Most of macromolecules, such as protein and polysaccharide included in animalmedicine undergo biodegradation and modification in intestinal tract after oraladministration. Due to structure complexity and the limitations of detection methods, up tonow, there has no clear active ingredient was discovered and No clear mechanism of activitywas elucidated in any animal medicines, which greatly influenced the development andapplication of modern animal medicine. Therefor, a viewpoint concern the metabolism ofprotein is that the administrated protein would be degradated into amino acids in intestinaltract before absorbed into blood stream which run counter to the basic theories and clinic ofChinese medicine. Thus, to elucide the mechanism and process of proteins from animalmedicine after oral administration is the key for the research of Animal Medicine inTraditional Chinese Medicine. In this research, we set up a protein tracing method with protein mixture extracted frompilose antler when oral administrated to rat. The result showed that protein from the mixtureunder MW45kd could be detected in rat blood. With the information provided on the theantler protein library, clinical information and comprehensive analysis of the modernPharmacology, active compouds absorbed into blood was confirmed. The method is an interdisciplinary research with Biology, Pharmacology, Biophotonicsand proteomics. It could be extended to other animal drugs with a great innovativesignificance and application value. |
