| Beijing School was a very important literary genre in modern Chinese literary history, which emerged in Peking-Tianjin areas of 1930s, had led literary trend over the entire Pingjin region and the northern areas, but as the war was coming,especially"literary magazine" edited by Zhu Guangqian ceased publishing in August 1937, which marked the termination of pre-Beijing School. Then Beijing School writers dismissed, even if the original works of the former writers of Beijing School had published,which was only a small range single-handedly, without forming voices of groups.The reunion of Beijing School as a school had to wait until the war was over. After the war, "literary magazine" reopened and a number of magazines such as "Renaissance" emerged, and there were a large number of newspaper literary supplements vigorously created over Pingjin region, which marked the reunion and rejuvenation of Beijing school.After the reunion,in addition to adhering to the literary position as usual, they paid their attention to the reality of chaos and social upheaval, and their creative works had a more vivid sense of the times and the sense of reality. Soon, however, left-wing literature taking Mao Zedong Thought as the standard had become the most authoritative and influential literary genre, whose pursuit of literary integration and ideological liquidation made the Beijing School overwhelmed. Forced by the pressure of ideology, the sharp turning of social mood and the transformation of literary aesthetic paradigm, the Beijing School insisting on the position of liberal literature and art could not make the right adjustment, the literary spirit of progressive silent work they complied with was outdated, so the termination of Beijing School was reasonable.This paper mainly analyzes the literary reconstruction activities of Beijing School colleagues and their struggle, decline and termination between 1945 and the founding of new China, and try to carefully describe the process of change, with particular attention to their literary theories and literary ideas, their vision for direction of literature and art, the exploration of the way of literary development, reexamination of relationship among the new literature,ancient literature and western literature, and the stylistic innovations and the idea of integration of literary theory, and their realignment and rethinking about literature, politics and reality etc.The main structure of this paper consists of three chapters:the first chapter focuses on the analysis of post-war revival of the literature and literary reconstruction programs and activities of Beijing School, including their exploration of new way of literature, blossom of publications and literary magazines and the emergence of literary newborn generation; the second chapter focuses on the multi-faceted literary concepts and literary theories of Beijing School, including their views about literary nature and creative attitude of writers, the analysis of relationship of the new literature and ancient literature, new literature and western literature, and their program mading new poetry modernized;the third chapter focuses on description of the final struggle, decline and dismiss of Beijing School,especially depicting their struggle, termination and transformation in the context of integration of left-wing literature. |
