On Feb.29th 1912,a mutiny broke out in Beijing. And since it happened, there were arguments on why it happened. Most scholars maintain that the mutiny was instigated by Yuan Shikai who did not want to go to Nanjing.Meanwhile some scholars opposite this opinion in logic, though they do not have enough evidence. This article mainly focuses on the Beijing Mutiny. In the first four chapters,by studying the historic data about this mutiny,I want to reveal that the Beijing Mutiny happened because of the situation of the society in 1910s instead of Yuan Shikai's or Yuan Keding's instigation.Meanwhile, the research of the Republic of China has made great development since 1990s.Thousands of articles about the Republic of China were published, especially those about the government of Kuomintang.Comparatively, the research of the Northern Warlords seams to be forgotten. So this article also wants to call for attentions on the Northern Warlords in the fifth chapter. The development of the research of the Northern Warlords will give us a vivid picture about the society of China in the first thirty years in 20th century.
