| The author intend to trace the art practices on figure paintings of Shi Tao, the master of Chinese Traditional Landscape Painting, through his remaining works of figure paintings. By restoring the historical environment of the late Ming and early Qing dynasty, the author is able to discuss the great contribution Shi Tao had made to the genre of figure painting in that period of time during which the "Figure Painting Revitalization of Late Ming Dynasty" had ended and the "the Eight Eccentric Painters of Yangzhou" were about to appeared. Shi Tao's own genius together with his sublation of the ancestors'experiences had enabled him to express his poets through his works and acted as an outstanding figure who inherited the past and ushered in the future in the history of Chinese Traditional Paintings. |
