| Known as the flavor of Dong nationality, Sanjiang Dong prefecture is located in the mountain of north Guangxi。There are many ancient national handicrafts in the locality, Dong national embroidery among others with a strong tinge of folk customs. It is a product of traditional farming culture, and is the precious cultural legacy, succeeding and developing under the given historical and cultural background of Dong nationality. Dong national embroidery is used predominantly for clothes and ornaments. Dong women commences studying embroidery when they are young, from which people saw their ingenuity, and saw the Dong ethnic culture, but very few people cared about their view of the embroidery, and feelings expressed through the embroidery. With the advent of globalization, the economic and cultural exchanges of various nationalities have kept increasing. No longer just entangling in the family, Dong women have the opportunity to go out to earn money. As a result of being affected by the foreign culture, their views of the traditional embroidery handicraft have changed.Taking Tongle Village in Tongle Township, Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County, Guangxi for example, this article is divided into six parts:part I describes the origin, research methods and data sources of this research, and combs the related research, and tells us about the aim and meaning. The second part is about a brief survey of the village's geographical environment and history evolution, and the human environment relating to Dong national embroidery. The third part describes the process and meaning of design of Dong national embroidery, concludes rules and skills, summarizes evaluation criterion of the local people, and analyses the changes. Part IV discusses the inheritance situation of Dong national embroidery, from four aspects:paper cutting, folk artists, traditional customs (including age rituals, fertility rituals, marriage customs, etc.), and ethnic identity. The fifth part researches the local people's evaluation and understanding of the Dong national embroidery, including men's and women's (divided into ordinary women and embroidery artists). Part VI is the conclusion, concluding that the local people must see themselves and the foreign culture objectively, and enhance awareness of protecting national culture, in order to develop the Dong national embroidery vividly in the process of traditional and modern collide.In traditional society, the Dong national embroidery is a symbol of evaluating eligibility of women and a reflection of the women's wisdom. The local embroidery artists put the Dong national embroidery as a medium of emotional expression, a platform of showing self, a gender identity marks, and as well as a way for the honor and wealth. Even as the development of national cultural brand, the embroidery works also contains a strong emotion of the artist, and reflects the course of construction of culture. |
