Tulving proposed the concept of mental time travel based on episodic memory, then Suddendorf and Corballis, whose studies developed this concept. Mental time travel (MTT) is the ability to mentally project oneself backward in time to relive past experiences and forward in time to pre-live possible future experiences. In recent years, the most studies about MTT focused on the self-projections onto the past to re-experience of past events. The researches get on to the future orientation, but only to discuss the emergence or development of the mental time travel into the future. There are few discussions about its featuress. This study draws on the research methods of the autobiographical memory, And compare the mental time travel between the depressive and non-depressive tendency participants, then find its features, look for the connection between the different time directions of the mental time travel.Step 1, guides the depressive and non-depressive tendency participants to the mental time travel into the past by the cue words, analyzes the outcomes and explores the features of the mental time travel into the past. The results show that the degree of depressive tendencies influences the mental time travel into the past. The students who tend to the depression, their details projected from the mental time travel into past are little poor than the non-depression one's.Step 2, guides the depressive and non-depressive tendency participants to the mental time travel into the future by the cue words, analyzes the outcomes and explores the features of the mental time travel into the future. The results indicate that the degree of depressive tendencies influences the mental time travel into the future. The students who tend to the depression, their details projected from the mental time travel into future are little poor than the non-depression one's.Step 3, compare the outcomes of the step 1 and step 2, and analyzes and explores the connection between the different time directions of the mental time travel. The results reveal that there are connections between the different time directions of the mental time travel, but the depressive tendency ones don't have this connection. The conclusions can be made based on the above three steps:The mental time travel existence of the phenomenon of over-generalization, impacted by the different emotional, has the feature of over-generality as the autobiographical memory, and the details from the projection depend on the tendency of the depressive. Non-depressive students work better than the depressive tendency ones at the mental time travel. The mental time travel of different time point has dependent phenomenon. The better mental time travel into the past, the better into the future. The positive cue word can make the individual to the scene experience in project well, but the negative cue word can not extraction the last script because of the function avoidance and the future thinking is worse. The mental time travel has the positive emotional effects features. Into the past or the future, the tendency depressive or non-depressive ones are more willing to recall or image the happy and positive things they think。...
