| This thesis is a sociolinguistic study of Harbin dialect initial [Ï…] variation.Using the variationist sociolinguistics theory, we investigate the speech community of the Urban and suburban areas of Harbin city. After quantitative statistic analysis of a sample including 227 infromants, this paper interprets the restraining factors of the syallables begin with initial"W"become into initial [Ï…] variation from internal and external point of view of language and especially based on social factors. And then describes the social distribution of initial [Ï…] variation of Harbin dialect.Among all of the restraining factors that we studied, we discovered that the four main factors are of the greatest impact of initial [Ï…] variation. These factors are Family prestige,Growth areas,Professional prestige and Age, then followed by current residence and Gender of the respondents. However, Ethnic come as the last factor. Meanwhile,We conclude the regression equation of the probability of the syallables begin with initial"W"become into initial [Ï…] variation. It is z=-0.942+0.907A1+0.828A3+0.357A4+1.316A5-0.754B1+0.651B2-1.403B3-0.294B4+0.626 C1+0.533C3+0.572C4-0.725D1-0.779D3+0.534E1+0.722F2+0.946G1+0.332H1.On these discoveries, the paper comes to the conclusion that the initial [Ï…]]variation of Harbin dialect is an ongoing change. |
