Korean Peninsula, located in East Asia and is bound by Liaoning and Jilin Provinces in northeast China, has a close relationship with China since ancient times. With the improvement of China's international status, learning Chinese language is flourishing around the world, especially for South Korea which has been having a close contact with China increasingly. At present, Chinese has become the most popular second foreign language in South Korea.Recent years, Chinese language is becoming globalizing. Compared with domestic education of Chinese language for foreigners, it is still quite immature for Chinese education in foreign countries. There is a considerable possibility for Chinese language to improve and develop itself. The writer of this paper is teaching Chinese as an assistant teacher in Songdo Middle School in Busan, South Korea, students in the school are beginners. In this paper, the writer attempts to survey and command the basic education of Chinese language in Busan(mainly in primary and middle schools), meanwhile tries to find current problems about Chinese and give solutions. The writer also puts forward some suggestions on the promotion of Chinese. The survey is carried out mainly in three parts: To generally command Chinese language teaching in primary and middle schools by consulting Busan Metropolitan Office of Education. To investigate some detail problems by asking some Chinese native teachers and several Korean teachers who teach Chinese in Busan. To inquire about students' feelings toward Chinese, troubles they met and what they need when they learn Chinese. The survey of the three aspects is completed through interviews and questionnaires. According to the summarized results, the writer tries to analyze the characteristics of current Chinese language teaching and the problems they faced in primary and middle schools in Busan. Meanwhile, some suggestions are also proposed based on the current problems.
