Everyone hold a image of ideal occupation, including the field of the job and the prestige of the job, etc. al. Unfortunately, due to the Serendipity of the external circumstances, one's most preferred occupations are not necessarily realistic or available, career compromise appears to be a rather common human experience.Career compromise is adjusting one's aspirations to accommodate an external reality.Career compromise has become an active research topic in career psychology field with many researchers investigating compromise orders. Unfortunately conclusions about compromise orders under different compromise degrees from different researches are different. And the effect of career compromise has nearly been neglected. The goals of this research are to find out the evaluating criterion of university students to careers, their compromise order under different compromising circumstances, and the effect which different degree of career compromising bring to them. The research is done with self-developed program based on Gottfredson's Theory of Aspiration development——Circumscription and Compromise theory, with a sample of 441 university students. The research is composed with four parts:Research 1: Investigate the evaluating criterion university students applied when deciding the acceptance of careers, which attribution of career they perceived much more important, sex-type, prestige, interest or faith of competence.Research 2: Investigate compromise orders of the four career attributions under different compromise degrees.Research 3: Investigate the effect perceived career compromise done to people's positive affect and negative affect. Research 4: Investigate the relation between personality and the effect compromise made to people's PA and NA,and rerearch the influence of people's concerning of different career attributions. The results are as below:1,Competence is of crucial importance in determining the acceptance of an occupation. The degree to which an occupation is compatible to one's interest and faith of competence means much more to individual than the prestige and sex-type of that job when they are identifying their most preferred occupations.2,The results agree with Gottfredson's opinion that the orders of compromising are different under different compromising degrees, but disagree with specific orders raised by Gottfredson. Findings suggest that:(1)Individuals engaging in no compromise choose occupations that first satisfy their interest, followed by faith of competence, followed by prestige, followed by sex-type.(2)Individuals engaging in minor compromise choose occupations that first satisfy their interest, followed by prestige, followed by faith of competence, followed by sex-type.(3)Individuals engaging in moderate compromise choose occupations that first satisfy their prestige, followed by sex-type, followed by interest, followed by faith of competence.(4)Individuals engaging in major compromise choose occupations that first satisfy their prestige, followed by sex-type, followed by interest, followed by faith of competence.3,Career compromise will effect people's affection. As the discrepancy between a desirable career and an available job increases, people's positive affect decreases and negative affect increase. The results are consistent with the conclusion drew from Theodore and LaRae's research(2008),and reveal that the effect which compromise bring to people's affect is consistent cross culture. 4,Though under the same compromise degree, people with different type of personality may differ in their affect, and the their concerning of different career attributions may be lead to different affect.
