The Recurrence Of Civilian Consciousness And Applied Research Of Modern Design

History of design is as long as human history. However, design is not an independent research area until the recent decades. Because of good design, people can survive, develop in the cruel nature. The connotation and denotation are changing as times move on. Similarly, the idea of designing for ordinary people is also changing.As prof. Wang Shouzhi puts it, the developing process of modern design is the developing process of civilianization. Before Modernism, the consciousness was not mature, but remained in the conception. In the First Half of 20th Century, the war has completely destroyed world economy and people lived in poverty. At that time, modern design served civilian class rather than upper class. Because of this, modern design brought people hope.Time is changing, we has entered post-industrial era and developed different consumption culture. The conception, the function and the forms of modern art and design has changed a lot. Facing this change, designers should realize the situation and fulfill the mission of serving people heart and soul. This is extremely important in the construction of sustainable development ecology of design.Looking up at the night sky of Post-Modernism, we can notice that the starry night is now gorgeous with billions of stars. It is Pop Art that started the trend. As an art movement, Pop Art has already became history. But as a form of art language, it possesses exuberant vitality. The development process of Pop Art is full of passion of mass culture. Pop Art does not provide reference materials for modern design, but also enrich the expression of contemporary art and design.This paper aims to study Pop Art and reveal the development of design civilianization consciousness, the inter-relationship in the movement. Combined with application of modern design, the research put forward the recurrence of design civilianization consciousness. It is hoped that the research can offer designer design positioning, design guidelines, and bring reference to modern design.
