Quite a lot of researches into coherence of the discourse appear in recent years, while little studies are conducted in poetry discourse coherence, which are mostly exploring from the cohesive devices, such as traditional rhetoric. Poetry, as a condensed language art, not only attains its generation and understanding of coherent discourse by cohesion on language form, but also demands maximally activation of language users'mechanism of psychological coherence and related encyclopedic knowledge.Cognitive poetics, as an emerging cross discipline, it breaks the limitations of traditional literary criticism, not just confining to one of the three items "the author - text - readers", but revaluating the whole literature activity process. In order to find a way of connecting literature language and the mind, cognitive poetics applies the cognition-related language structures and application theory to studies of literary texts.Starting from the idea of cognitive poetics, this article researches into the textual coherence of obscure poetry, which is guided by Langacker's CDC(conceptual domain construal ) theory and complemented by register theory of Halliday. The full text is divided into six parts as following:At the beginning, the preface outlines the research purpose, research methods and research significance. And the paper also points out the possible fact that it is feasible to discuss about textual coherence of obscure poems with CDC theory. In the first chapter, the article reviews the definition and characteristics of textual coherence, which is followed by an introduction of present researches into poetic textual coherence and obscure poems. And it then points out their shortcomings and problems to be solved. The second chapter sketches out the cognitive poetics and the obscure poems. It mainly introduces the emergencies and principles of cognitive poetics. After that, the origins, development and ideas are portrayed. And the connections between cognitive poetics and obscure poems are discussed in the end of this part. The third chapter is the critical part of CDC and discourse coherence of obscure poems, which systematically introduces the significances of concept domain construal and its related manners. And the textual features and language features of the obscure poems are analyzed comprehensively. In this section, besides defining concepts and theories of the CDC theory, the article interprets the whole application of CDC in the obscure poems by an instance of Shu Ting's"TO Oak", which proves the effective interpretation of CDC on poetic discourse coherence. And the advantages and disadvantages are concluded at the end of this part.In the fourth chapter, register theory by Halliday is adopted as supplement of the deficiency proposed in the above section. After introducing its definition and current researches, the register theory is applied to the poem"To Oak", reaching for the discourse coherence of higher level, such as, the poet's concerning of society and humanities. So it is complementary with the psychological coherence of the former part. Hence, a new interpreting model of poetic textual coherence is built in expectation. The last part of the paper is a conclusion. This part generalizes the main content of the full text, including the stereo interpretation of discourse coherence and content extending of cognitive poetics. In addition, the highlight of the paper goes to the detailed discourse analysis of CDC's function on an obscure poem. Although deficiencies of the CDC come up during the study course, this can be complemented by the register theory, which is possessed with two facets of register consistency and register deviation, and three elements of tenor, field and mode as well. By this approach, discourse coherence of the poem"To Oak"is elevated to a higher and comprehensive level. Finally, the next research direction is proposed.
