In order to reveal changes in their development and describe the semantic function and pragmatic function of modern Chinese modal particle, This article describes and analyzes modal particles in "Water Margin", "Journey to the West", "Golden Lotus", "Dream of Red Mansions". The method of research is combining the semantic description and pragmatic analysis. The article uses some basic theory of Cognitive Pragmatics to research modern Chinese modal particle.
