The Ethical Review Of Tai-xu's "Life Buddhism" Thought

Tai-xu wizard is a prominent figure in modern Chinese Buddhism. His " Life Buddhism" thought is concerned by most people with far-reaching effects.This paper is on the ethics review of " Life Buddhism" thought. The ethical discourse of Tai -xu's thought of " Life Buddhism" is selected specially and built as a separate framework of this paper. The general idea is used as the following:In the first chapter, the prolegomenon introduces the possibility of the ethical review of" Life Buddhism", and describes Tai-xu's life and the basic content of his " Life Buddhism" thought briefly.The second chapter discusses Tai-xu's understanding of the Buddhism "origin view" and "causes view", which is used consciously to the thought of" Life Buddhism" as the theoretical basis of ethics.On this basis, the third chapter discusses Tai-xu's understanding of "ethics", "moral"," man" and "life " and conception of good and evil, which constitutes the relevant content of the ideological and moral aspects of" Life Buddhism".The fourth chapter is the further expanding of Tai-xu's ethics and the study of moral practice level on " Life Buddhism" thought. And a different standard of ethics is proposed.The fifth chapter probes into the life values of " Life Buddhism" thought. This is Tai-xu's critical awareness of the value of human moral subject. Tai-xu thinks that the value of life lies in earthly practice, social services, and takes the liberation road that a person becomes a Buddha.Then, the sixth chapter discusses " Life Buddhism" thought's highest moral ideal to society, which is to build a pure land. Through the sentencing of pure land thought, Tai-xu constructs a ideal model of pure land.Finally, this paper discusses the influence and the modern value of Tai-xu's " Life Buddhism" thought from an ethical point of view.The purpose of this paper is to review Tai-xu's " Life Buddhism" thought, tap its content, and grasp its impact and modern values in the perspective of ethics systematically. In terms of the research methods, philosophy, ethics, Buddhist methods of philology, textual criticism and intellectual history methods are used. This paper respects the original formulation strictly and draws the conclusion with the requirements of ethics.
