A Study On Baise Cantonese Vocabulary

The Cantonese in Baise is the common communicative language at the Youjiang District of Baise City. It is a unique Cantonese because Baise is the location where those people whose race is zhuang intensive populated and the far west of Guangxi Cantonese in Guangxi Province which is transmission to west via the river. Based on the fieldwork investigation, I try to discover the characteristic and the general status of the vocabulary of Baise Cantonese through description, comparison, and analysis.The entire article is divided into seven parts:The first part is introduction, which is focus on the introduction of the history, geography, and population of the Youjiang District of Baise City; the discussion of current research of Baise Cantonese; and the depiction of the pronunciation system.The second part illustrates the vocabulary of Baise Cantonese in astronomy, geography and other 29 classes'words in classification vocabulary.The third part compares the characteristics of Mandarin and Baise Cantonese by the morphology and the meaning of the word.The fourth part examines the characteristics of Baise Cantonese in word-formation, mainly in single-morpheme word and compound word.The fifth part analyzes the etymology of Baise Cantonese. There are two major contributions:one is foreign word, the other is following the Ancient Chinese. Besides, I did a little research about the communication of three languages in use at Youjiang District from Ancient Chinese view.The sixth part is the detail discussion of the vocabulary of Baise Cantonese. I analyzed the comparison and contrast of Baise Cantonese, Nanning Cantonese, and Cantonese and the communication of Baise Cantonese, Ping in Southern Guangxi, and Guan in Southwestern Guangxi by quantitative.The last part is the conclusion which is the summary of entire thesis.
