William Butler Yeats, a world famous modernist poet, also known as the landmark in English literary field, is the pride of the whole of Ireland. The study of Yeats has been a very hot area. There are a lot of researches about his poetry and himself worldwide since his death. Meanwhile, Yeats is also a controversial topic. The discussion is mainly focusing on the Yeats's social position, personal life and work style changes, performance techniques etc. This thesis can be subdivided into three parts, namely "introduction", "main body" and "conclusion". In the introduction part, how I get to known Yeats, brief description of Yeats' works, variety life's journey, and the importance of Yeats' poetry to modem Europe, were all introduced. The main body of this paper is divided into five chapters, a total of 10 small sections. The first chapter introduces the research on Yeats to date worldwide and some of this thesis references. With the time as a leading of Chapter two. I describes the life of Yeats', including Yeats's family background, growth history, social background, social unrest, emotional life, friends and community etc. This affected much of Yeats'growth, world view and values, directly or indirectly, thereby affecting the work of Yeats. The third chapter focused on interpretation of Yeats's social identity. As we all know, a person's essence is his social attributes. A person's contribution and influence to society, directly determines the community's understanding and recognition of this person. Yeats's work and his social activities witted the 19th to the 20th century Ireland and the British literary change, social change, and even the decline of the colonial era. The analysis of Yeats' social status will do much help for us to better understanding of Yeats, as well as his work styles. Chapter three focused on people's interpretation, while the fourth chapter focused more on the works of poetry. The fourth chapter focused on analysis of Yeats's poetry, the ideology and characteristics of poetry. The most representative poetry of Yeats were selected in this chapter. In Yeats' poetry, it contains symbolism, mysticism and aristocracy. The analysis and interpretation will help us to better interpret the works of Yeats. Chapter five was the conclusion part. After reviewing Yeats' life and works, I drawed an objective and impartial evaluation of Yeats'poetry at a new point of view, meanwhile I also discussed the sense of poetry and creative goals.Poetry is created out of people. The content can not break away from human and society, neither does the analysis of poetry. In this paper. I first introduced Yeats's life experiences, as well as the social environment at that moment as the background understanding for Yeats. In order to restore a authentic, three-dimensional Yeats, I studied the following there aspect. First, I explored what kind of a man Yeats was; second, how did his poetry influenced his social roles and thirdly, the performance of Yeats's poetry. Through the analysis and interpretation of Yeats, I draw the conclusion about the ultimate meanings and the creative forces of poetry creation. From this perspective, this paper truly people-oriented, I believe that this paper will do much help not only for poetry writing, but also for understanding of poetry.
