Liang Qichao's New Citizen Thought And Its Value To Cultivate Contemporary Citizens

When doing research on the Chinese modern ethics, Liang Qichao as the giant of early modern thought cannot be overlooked. So does his new citizen thought. In modern history, strong invasion of the western countries forced the Chinese long-blocked door to increasingly open up. Thus, it speeded up the pace of the disintegration of the traditional Chinese. Faced with the deepening of the external challenges, where will traditional Chinese go? Early Chinese intellectuals began to wake up, firstly recognized its negative influence to national existence, and then they went around and campaigned actively to explore the road of national salvation. Obviously, Liang Qichao is one of the important representatives. He put forward his political vision of innovating our people in order to achieve his political ideals of innovating our country. Beyond any doubt, it not only had profound historical significance to defend the country and race, but also it had far-reaching practical impact on cultivating and molding the contemporary citizens.According to the traditional model of theory origin-theoretical connotation-theory reference, this paper regarded Liang Qichao's new citizen thought as the spindle, made great efforts to explore its value of the times in order to benefit contemporary citizens'molding. First of all, from the two dimensions of theoretical origin and background, the paper profoundly analyzed the origin of the new citizen thought. Therefore, we could draw a conclusion that his thought was not only the result of learning from Chinese and western theory and other contemporary thinkers'thinking, but also it was induced by internal and external pressure of the background. Then, I focused on four aspects to reproduct the new citizen image carefully constructed by Liang Qichao:group was the core of the new citizen, moral was the soul of the new citizen, wisdom was the element of the new citizen, courage was the guarantee of the new citizen. Only we have all of the qualities can new citizen generate. Finally, based on defining the connotation of citizen, re-combing and integrating the citizen's development context, we can pry out the close contact between the new citizen and the citizen. Next this paper pointed out that cultivating contemporary citizens should take the new citizen's essence and abandon the new citizen's dross. In other words, when we learn from the new citizen thought, we should do not copy but adhere to the objective and rational attitude, and removed its historical limitations. Generally speaking, it is quite helpful for us to carefully figure out Liang Qichao's new citizen thought, becuase we can fully explore our own theory treasures.
