Almost half of the text of Don Juan is about chat except Don Juan's adventureexperience. These chat, which are concerted with the protagonist's travel, are notarguments about characters and events of the story, but views on temporal events withintensive lyricism. This is different from the story which is concentrated on plot andaction in narrative method. This thesis will analyze the linguistic subject of story andchat's coexistence from narrator and narrative action's perspective, making use ofStructuralism's narrative method and Romantic poetic literature. And this thesis willbe divided into three parts.Part one will focus on narrator and narrative action of Don Juan's story part. Thenarrator has absolute authority in narrative, knowing the whole story. His expressionsare from an outsider's perspective, even with a little taunt. He arranges the charactersin the plot, rather than making the story developed through character's expressionsand information. The story pays attention to character's action instead of temperament, and concentrates on the necessity of the plot with a result of deliberate interrupt.Part two puts the concentration on narrator and narrative action of Don Juan'schat part. The narrator now mostly is not devoted to the story but absorbed in selfemotion through the method of different space time, meta-narration and directlyricism. He is more like a self-conscious "lyric subject". Condemnation, irony andcomment are embodied in the sentences with subjective consciousness intensively. Asa result of the transformation from narrator to "lyric subject", the story is interruptedand the situation being accounted is laid aside. Then the goal to arouse suspense andboost reader's expectation has been achieved.Part three with the help of Romantic poetic literature carries out the analysis onthe phenomena mentioned above. The narrator in story part and the "lyric subject"with intensive consciousness in the chat part construct a subject together, that is the"linguistic subject"(implied author) in Don Juan. He has conciliated the "imaginationworld" in which Don Juan is situated and the "real world" in which the narrator issituated and condemns. Meanwhile, the importance of emotion and subjectivity of the chat are natural expression of intensive emotions, which has embodied19thcentury'sRomantic writer's interest in mystic mid-age history, dissatisfaction with the realitystrongly and characteristics of preference for subjective ideal and expression of selfemotion.Based on the unique structure of Don Juan in which the story and the chat relyon each other, we can see the expression of subjective emotion. It synthesize thetraditional literary form of story, the layout of the sentimentalism novel and the articaltechnics of the18thcentury's English lyric poem.
