Huang Jie was born in Lingnan and he was educated by traditional Chinese cultures and affected by some western cultures, so he formed his ideas based on his schooling.To realize his dream about saving our country by culture, Huang Jie wrote Zheng Yi Tong Bao and Guo Cui Tong Bao with Deng Yi. They began to spread their ideas and western political systems and foreign science and civilization in papers. He analyzed the reason for western aggressions and invaders'real aim, at the some time; he analyzed why China lagged behind in modern times. He appreciated the theory of evolution and advocated the nation's independence.Huang Jie reflected on traditional culture, considered the right way to exchange Chinese and western Culture, and criticized blind westernization, hoping to create a different way from the traditional Chinese and western culture. He also initiated the quintessence of a country and the Europeanization. And he believed that we should take in our culture's strength and rid of our culture's weakness and discarded absolute values, hoping that through the essence of traditional culture to raise national spirit and national independence.Huang Jie wrote Huang Shi to demonstrate that Chinese history was from the Huang Di. His historical thoughts were based on the traditional ones and he thought highly of the Han nation to publicize greatly Han nation's color to prepare the anti-Manchu revolution.
