The object of this paper is the adjustment of the internationalism route in the Khrushchev era. And the problems this paper tries to solve can be listed as follows:Why did Khrushchev want to make adjustment to the former internationalism route? What's the content of this adjustment? What were the driving forces both in the international level and the domestic level? At last, what's the result? To answer those questions, we need in-depth study of Khrushchev and his time. Marx and Engels' internationalism was produced in a certain background, and was in line with the world revolution. Because of the changes in the characteristics of the times, the internationalism route cannot meet the needs of the Soviet Union.Lenin and Stalin's internationalism shows different manifestations because of different historical factors and adds new elements into the Marxism theory. However, due to the changes in the characteristics of the times and the limitations of the theoretical application, internationalism was unable to meet the needs of Soviet Union. Khrushchev developed new theories including:war can be avoided, "Sanhe route" and diversities within the Soviet Union. Khrushchev's development of the internationalism theory was quite innovative, providing a theoretical groundwork for the adjustment. He carried out his new route and eased the relationship with capitalism countries. Meanwhile, he offered supports to the Third World countries and tried to bring equality into the relationships with the Eastern Europe countries. Although Khrushchev's policy adjustment achieved positive reactions, and made a great contribution for the easing of the world situation, the failure is unavoidable for the confused role identity and the lack of the internalization of international norms.
