In recent years with the quick development of economy China's shipping market is booming, which contributed to the rocketing development of transportation by sea and river, rapid increasing of number of ships, and year by year growing of demand for seamen. Meanwhile, mobility of seamen is also growing year by year, and officers are in short supply and seriously lost. This situation of seamen's "quilting" and officers' shortage leads pressure to the development of transportation by sea. Seamen made great contribution for the development of national economy, insurance of public safety, and expanding of opening to outside. As the cradle of training seamen, colleges of navigation take a long-term, arduous task of training high-quality, high-technical seamen. Navigation is a special industry, and it's extremely urgent to study training model of navigation professionals actually applied to the development of transportation by sea according to characteristics of navigation. Currently every college is actively studying adjusting ways of training professionals in order to meet demand of market economy."Combining study with work" training model of professionals is the direction for reform and development of higher vocational education. To reform traditional training model of professionals centered on class, and to enforce cooperation between college and enterprise, as well as combining study with work, are the crux of promoting quality of training professionals for higher vocational education. Taking educational reform practices of navigation majors of Wuhan Marine College as examples this paper analyzes and discusses reform and innovation on training model of professionals, educational system, course system construction, order-education mode, and "double-quality teachers" construction of teaching faculty.The innovation of the paper lies in that, the first one is innovation of study perspective. The paper studies training model of professionals of navigation majors of higher vocational colleges based on combining study with work, researching theory of education science in practice, which is breaking through old study perspective. Taking "combining study with work" training model as a breakthrough point to train professionals of navigation is in favor of issuing policies by education institutes to combine study of education science with economic benefits of shipping, as well as mutual promotion between them, to deepen understanding and master of theories of education science and economics, to expand study perspective of researchers, and to arouse researchers'interest for the further research. The second one is the breakthrough of methodology. Based on theory of education science this project synthesizes literature research approach, investigation research approach, case study approach, and comparative analysis approach, taking individual classical case to pick out "combining study with work" training model of navigation professionals of higher vocational college, which forms inference process connecting in logic. It also combines qualitative analysis research with quantitative analysis research, ensuring scientificity, accuracy, and operability of relative conclusion. It's in favor of researchers to analyze cause and effect, development of social phenomenon according to its developing process, in order to systematically make training model of navigation professionals of higher vocational colleges come true.
