This article is about a corrosion monitoring system, based on ZigBee, a network standard, especially applicable to cathode protection technology, enabling the measurement of the degree of corrosion. ZigBee is a new, wireless system with various advantages such as: low power consumption,low cost. Furthermore, it has been used successfully in many fields.This article firstly mentioned the relevance of marine corrosion and our nation′s future progress, and then briefly introduced the ZigBee's network protocol. With the basis of the network protocol provided by Texas Insturments, the author designed the software and hardware of a monitoring network for marine corrosion. This monitoring system network has the function of power supply, data collection, storage, display ,analysis of data processing, it consists a sensor node, a routing node and a collector node. The process of network is that: the sensor node receives data first and then transfers the data to the collector node by using the routing node. Finally, the data will be processed by a computer and displayed on a screen.For this system, we have carried out simulation experiments which have proved that the design can meet the basic requirements of the monitoring system for marine application corrosion. Therefore, we conclude that the technology is of high value and has good future application perspectives.This project comes from the subject of state science and technology supporting program (Number:2007BAB27B03-04 ).
